【正文】 their defeat and expulsion, Adam and Eve, Satan?s temptation of Eve, and the expulsion of Adam and Eve from The Garden of Eden. ? The remarks of Paradise Lost: ? The theme of Paradise Lost is explicit at the opening of book 1: Man?s disobedience and the consequent loss of Paradise. Satan is seen just after he and his fellow rebel angels have been thrown into Hell. He is seen chained on the burning lake and speaking to his next highest rade, Beelzebub. Satan is struck by the radical change in Beelzebub?s appearance caused by the Fall(亞當(dāng)和夏娃偷吃禁果導(dǎo)致的人類的災(zāi)難 ), and he makes the speech in the text. He refuses to serve God, whom he calls a tyrant. Beelzebub asks Satan what they should do next against God, Satan answers that they should do everything within their ability to pervert(使墮落 ) God?s will. ? Milton intentionally allows us to first see Satan before we see God or man.
