Because they’re several new words in the paragraph, in order to check if all the Ss have mastered them well, I’ll ask the Ss to read the article silently and finish the sentences with the new words. 2. Report. I’ll show a picture of Beckham, and his sports collections, and the funny faces. I’ll also give some useful structures to help them finish the report. I’m a reporter from CCTV5. Today we’ll talk about Beckham. He has 3 soccer balls. He …… Beckham is many students’ idol, so they must be interested in talking about him. Step 5 Progress(5’) In order to help the Ss to develop their reading skills of skimming and guessing, I design some exercise according to a passage. So that they can read a passage faster and understand it more correctly. Step 6 Summary and Homework (1’) I’ll show the important phrases and the use of the adjectives on the screen, ask Ss to read again. As for homework, I’ll ask the Ss to read the paragraph twice after the tape and retell it to a classmate. Part 6 Reflecting In a word, reading practice is a procedure from easy to difficult. The improvement of the reading skills depends on the full involvement of the students, the correct guidance from the teacher and the efficient promotion of the classroom teaching. As teachers, we should focus on the students, and design our teaching carefully to open the students’ mind, develop their selflearning ability and improve the ability of language using.
