It also included specific types of abilities, and it meant that a person can ask, find, or determine answers to questions derived from curiosity about everyday experiences. Many countries adopted Scientific Literacy as an important indicator to descript and scale the public’s scientific petence and their scientific knowledge. In china, since 1990s, 4 researches had been practiced, but there was no particular data about teachers in primary schools and junior high schools. This research was designed to collect some data desired. The article analyzed statistical data, and had these conclusions: a) teachers’ scientific literacy was higher than the public。 b) there existed no prominent difference among science teachers, literature teachers and other teachers。 c) some teachers was short of mon sense, and had little effort on the creature’s physiological phenomena。 d) they paid little attention on new progresses in science and technology。 e) it was necessary for them to enhance their ability of critical thinking and probing。 f) science education should be added as an core course in curricula designing of teacher education.Key words scientific literacy primary school and junior high school public investigation science education12 / 12
