Conclusion Importance of Knowing Their Similarities and Dissimilarities Since English is so widely spoken, it has always been regarded as the world language. Besides, English is often considered as one of the most important languages in the world. Even if it is not an official language in most countries, it is the language that is most often taught as a foreign language recently. With the impact of economic globalization, there appears a phenomenon of close connection between countries across the world. Therefore, large amount of people start to learn English as second foreign language for the purpose of international munications. Besides, English also bees a necessity in many fields like puters, technology, medicine, science, and business. In fact, no language is more widely studied and used as a foreign language than English. The desire to learn English is immense now。 almost every country is addicted to learning English. In China English has also bee a required subject in our middle schools, colleges, universities, and even in primary schools.British English and American English are two major varieties of English in the world. It is apparently that there are many similarities between them for they both belong to English. Whereas, there also exist dissimilarities since they have different development. Consequently, only by knowing the similarities and dissimilarities between British English and American English can we learn it well and use it fluently as well as correctly. Only in this way can we better control English and avoid misunderstanding. What’s more, it will be benefit for us to prehend the different culture of British and American as well as their different local customs and practices. Attitudes toward Their Similarities and Dissimilarities As for their similarities, British English and American English both play an important role in the world munication. They enable us municate with each other without understanding problems. Besides, the history of English and its process of development will be further understood by knowing their similarities. The rules or laws of pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary and grammar will be better grasped.As for their dissimilarities, it is not wise to deny or exaggerate them. Due to the influence of politics, economy, geography, history, culture and many other factors, there are dissimilarities between British English and American English, such as pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary, and grammar. By knowing their dissimilarities, people can get hold of the different characteristics, attitudes, and culture of British and American.Moreover, it is not proper to say which is better, which is more correct, or which is superior, after we have a new recognition on the British English and American English. Anyone who thinks that British English is “better” or “worse” than American English is a preconception. We should be impartial to British English and American English. No matter which language you have learned, try to learn it well.
