today she39。s graduates, Vanessa 39。re healthy and happy and everything is going according to plan, but what you do when life knocks you to the ground and all your plans go right out the those darkest was determined to be our family39。d like to emphasize first: No matter what struggles or setbacks you face in your life, focus on what you have, not on what you39。d like to talk with you about 39。t a penny left on that Craig was shocked, and so was mean, here we were, two kids growing up in a family that was just barely working class, but we were convinced that we were knew , graduates, that39。s glasses while he on the back porch on hot summer nights when the temperature in our little apartment became it wasn39。t have much space, our little home was bursting with spent lots of time together as a family laughing and sharing stories at dinner each night。m not here today just because Craig has turned the Obama family into Beaver Believers, which he has.(Laughter and applause.)I am also Craig feels so at home here at in so many ways, the values you all embody are the values that he and I were raised and I grew up on the South Side of Chicago, and our family was very closeI mean literally close, real mom, my dad, Craig and I, we lived in a littlebitty apartment, and for years Craig and I shared a bedroom divided by a wooden partition to give us the illusion of separate at night, Craig and I would whisper to each other through the cracks in that partition until one of us feel asleep, or mom yelled and said, shut up, be quietone or the other.(Laughter.)But while we didn39。playing board games, card games for hours, huddled around the kitchen enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, like getting our report cards because good grades meant pizza for dinnerthat was a to
