The three kinds of courses are about knowledge of English, basic listening, and some basic English culture knowledge. In teaching English knowledge, the main task is words accumulation. In this course the teaching method is to take the teachers’ guiding way to teach students, because in elementary school students are too young to learn actively and they have poor ability of understanding. In the course of basic listening and English culture knowledge, the teaching method is to take the multimedia ways to teach, which are vivid and imaging. First, teachers can let students listen to some English words and some children songs of English. Then with the time going, students more or less will have the feeling of English listening. Second by multimedia ways, some basic knowledge about English culture will be taught and learnt. For example, teachers can let students see some films through multimedia about western festivals or customs. Besides according to what students react to teachers’ teaching, they can make some light changes when giving classes in class. The teaching methods should be flexible. Teachers should not be limited to the simple textbook, and try to be open and make students learn more things. Fourth, when giving lessons, teachers should try to speak English step by step, not use Chinese. Or the students will develop bad habit, and they will too much depend on their mother tongue languageChinese. At last, development of English thinking pattern should be paid attention. Because it is very helpful for students’ learning English. Since in elementary school, the teachers should pay more attention to their own thinking pattern. They should develop an English thinking pattern, and when in teaching they should use it. Then it will be of great significance in developing students’ English thinking pattern. Changes on English teaching model in middle school After six years’ English teaching and learning in elementary school, students have some basic knowledge of English. In other words, elementary school has laid good foundation for students’ learning English. Then in middle school, a further study of English will be offered. Some changes should be made in this period. 9 First, the central task is to develop the prehensive ability of students in English. English is being more and more popular to Chinese people and has bee an indispensable part of Chinese teaching in schools. Nowadays since in elementary schools, systematic English teaching has began. In middle and high schools, English has also bee a main course in students’ study. And when in the university, English is also taught and will bee much more special. At the same time, English will be divided into various orientations as a major. Therefore, in nowadays, English learning has bee an important part in students’ study life. And what’s more, with the world being smaller and smaller, English shows its great importance on municating with people of different countries. Especially when our country has entered into WTO, English has bee much more popular, practical and useful. Many fields need English speaking people. Step by step, people pay much more attention to English learning. And then English teaching has taken up a very important position in China naturally. Situations in English teaching and learning in Chinese schools English teaching is developing so fast. The unceasing reforms have made the situation of Chinese English teaching better and better. With the development of English teaching, students’ English learning also makes great progress. Different periods (. Elementary schools, high schools, and universities) have different ways in teaching, which make students familiar with English and have a good mastery of the subject. In the present situation of English teaching and learning in Chinese schools, virtues exist, but from a very objective stand, there are still many questions.
