【正文】 orbid sb. to do →allow sb. to do 語言點3 which were forbidden作foods的定語從句?！ helist included most of the things Hugh loves: butter, potatoes, rice, beer，milk, chocolate, and sweets. 這張單子上的大多數(shù)食物都是休平時喜歡吃的：黃油、土豆、米飯、啤酒、牛奶、巧克力和糖果?！ ≌Z言點1Hugh love是things的定語從句，該定語從句省略了關系代詞that/which 語言點2 冒號后的所有內(nèi)容都是對休喜歡吃的東西作補充說明。 Yesterday I paid him a visit. 昨天我去看望了他?！ ≌Z言點 表示“拜訪某人”的表達有： 1) visit sb. 2) call on sb. 3) look sb. up 4) pay sb. a visit I rang the bell and was not surprised to see that Hugh was still as fat as ever. 我按響了門鈴，當看到休仍和往常一樣胖時，我并不感到驚奇. 語言點1 ring the door bell按響門鈴 語言點2 as... as ever表示“依舊……”,原句實際上是個省略句式，補充完整應該是：...that Hugh was still as fat as he ever was. He led me into his room and hurriedly hid a large parcel under his desk. 他把我領進屋，慌忙把一個大包藏到了桌子下面?！ ≌Z言點lead sb. into somewhere把某人領進某地；show sb. out of somewhere把某人帶出某地 It was obvious that he was very embarrassed. 顯然他感到很尷尬?！ ≌Z言點 it是形式主語，that引導主語從句，that之后的內(nèi)容是真正的主語。還原為一般句式應該是：His embarrassment was obvious. When I asked him what he was doing, he smiled guiltily and then put the parcel on the desk. 當我問他正干什么時，他內(nèi)疚地笑了，然后把那個大包拿到了桌上?！ ≌Z言點 句中包含由when引導的時間狀語從句和由what引導的賓語從句。
