【正文】 eadin is killing time. They spend large part of time and energy in training students’ ability to use English such as vocabulary teaching, sentence structure analysis and grammar rules explanation, etc. with the purpose to meet only part of the National English Curriculum need and make preparation for the College Entrance Examination. The author also finds that many teachers who are convinced that effective leadin has many advantages and strengths in the current English classroom teaching still pays little attention to the techniques in the leadin stage. In fact, if academic achievement of students could not be made instantly, it is difficult for teachers and students really to carry out new teaching approaches actively in the leadin stage. Then in spite of the new concepts and goals of the Curriculum, most of the teachers continue to apply the traditional teaching methods to begin a lesson, which makes students lose interest at the beginning of the class. In the long run, students will feel more and more passive and confused in the class. This kind of situation may be caused by many reasons: a lack of natural and reliable language environment, teachers’ application of inefficient teaching methods, deficiency of interactive activities and tasks, etc. Among those factors, the author thinks that an important one is teachers’ inefficient leadin in the teaching process. They neglect students’ nonintellectual elements during the leadin stage of English teaching: independent consciousness, intrinsic motivation, affection and attitude. They think that students are only able to receive instead of thinking by themselves. Most of the teachers fail to make full use of students’ personal power, inspire them to observe, point out, analyze and solve problems on their own, which does great harm to their feelings of ownership and selfconfidence. The effectiveness of English teaching in senior high school has been influenced greatly. Therefore, appropriate and effective teaching approach is desperately demanded to guide and perfect the leadin stage in senior high school English class. Purpose of the studyTo solve the problem mentioned above, the thesis is necessary to convince and instruct teachers who are the agents for implementing classroom teaching. Faced with the reform of the new curriculum, teachers who are crucial factors are expected to attach more and more importance to the leadin stage which is the critical link of English class. They are also supposed to shift their role of dominator to participant in English class. In addition, they should abandon their deeplyrooted and longestablished traditional teaching methods and apply more interactive activities to the leadin stage of English class.This thesis is expected to make up for leadin study in some degree and to consolidate the theoretical and practical base of the research on the leadin stage of senior high school English class. Theoretically speaking, this thesis supplies a foundation for indicating the psychological and behavioral features of senior high school students. It provides a basis for ameliorating the current condition of the leadin stage in senior high school English class, triggering students’ interest and their enthusiasm for learning English, offering guidance for increasing the efficiency of English teaching in senior high school by introducing the application of interactive teaching method. Practically speaking, by citing model clippings of the lessons with excellent leadin which apply the Interactive Teaching Approach in senior high school English class, the writer hopes that the senior high school English teachers can realize and understand the significance of applying interactive activities to leadin and the problems to be solved in the current English teaching situation. Besides, by means of the study, the author aims to help English teachers in senior high school take students’ needs into account, adopt appropriate and various leadin methods on the basis of students’ age characteristics and knowledge level, design the leadin stage concentrating on the art of leadin to set up a bridge for students to absorb new knowledge and construct a harmonious atmosphere to guarantee the smoothness and depth of senior high school English class. In addition to this, the thesis also provides some constructive advice for senior high school English teachers to update the pedagogical concepts and strategies. The arrangement of the thesisThe thesis is posed of five chapters as follows: Chapter One is the introduction which mainly refers to the background of the research including significance and problems of the leadin stage in senior high school English class, the purpose of the investigation as well as the framework of the thesis. This chapter gives a general idea about this thesis macroscopically. Chapter Two is the literature review, which is chiefly introducing the previous relevant theories and researches about leadin as well as Interactive Teaching Approach from both abroad and domestic, from which readers can have a clearer knowledge of the earlier studies on leadin and interactive teaching approach. In Chapter Three the author explains the importance of application of Interactive Teaching Approach to the leadin stage in senior high school English class based on the former studies in theory. In Chapter Four the author gives the concrete application of interactive teaching method to the leadin stage of senior high school English class, including the principal interactive activities that may be adopted in classroom teaching. An experiment is also carried out in this chapter to prove the effectiveness of applying Interactive Teaching Approach to leadin. Chapter Five serves as the conclusion of the thesis.
