N o. A fact i s anythi ng that can be proved. For exam pl e, i t can be proved that Chi na has m ore peopl e than any other country i n the worl d. Thi s i s a fact. Then what i s an opi ni on? An opi ni on i s what som eone bel ieves i s true but has not been proved. So an opinoion is not god evidence in a trail. For exampl e, it is an opinion if you say “Cats are better pets than dogs”. It may be true, but it i s di ffi cul t to prove. Som e peopl e m ay not agree wi th thi s opi ni on but they al so cannot prove that they are ri ght. In a trai l, a judge m ust deci de whi ch eyewi tnesses to beli eve and whi ch not to beli eve. The judge does not consi der what each eyewi tness l ooks l i ke or where that person li ves or works. Bi g Feng to the rescue His friends and family cal l him “Big Feng” because he is bery tal and pl ayed basketbal as a young man. But he is al so big i n a di fferent way — he fights hard to protect China’s past. H is real name is Feng Jicai and he has written many novel s about life in China. Several years ago, however, he put down hi s pen for a whil e and began to protect the cl tural rel ics i n Ti anji n, where he li ves. O nce som eon asked him why he no l onger wrote. H e repli ed that at the m om ent he felt protecti ng cultural rel ics was m ore im portant. Feng l oves his hom etown. Instead he goes out and does what he can him eself. If others fol l ow him, so m uch the better. O ne of hi s bi ggest projects was to protect the ol dest street i n Ti anji n. Al ong that street some shops had done busi ness for seven hundred years. Althought the ci ty governm ent rebui l t thi s street, they di d save i ts ol dest buil ding. Another project was m ore sucessful : he persuaded the ci ty governm ent to buy som e l and i n the centre of the city so i t coul d not be sol d for busi nesses. Thi s area is very i mprotant for the history of Ti anji n. It was here that the ci ty was fi rst bui l t duri ng the Song Dynasty. Later m any treasures were found here. To Feng, di ggi ng down i n to the earth i s l ike readi ng page after page of a book. Each dynasty found i n the earth i s li ke an i nteresting story. N ot l ong ago he and other wri ters and arti sts took photos of the ol d parts of Ti anji n. The photos were put into a book which was very popul ar. The m oney from the book hel ps hi s prjects. O nce, and ol d m an asked Feng to si gn a book for hi m, sayi ng he woul d gi ve i t to hi s grandson who was not yet born.
