Report on the 4th International Conference on Classical Chinese Grammar(ICCCG) August 15—17, 2020 Vancouver, Canada The 4th International Conference on Classical Chinese Grammar (ICCCG) was held at the University of British Columbia (UBC) from August 15 to 17, 2020. The conference was hosted by the Department of Asian Studies, UBC and the anizing mittee was chaired by Professor Ken Takashima. Altogether, 51 papers were presented in 15 sessions. This conference attracted scholars from many areas over the globe. There were scholars from Hong Kong, USA, Canada, Russia, Germany, Mainland China, France, Taiwan, Australia, Japan and Korea. The papers also covered a wide range of topics: oracle bone and bronze instructions, old Chinese morphology, Buddhist texts, linguistic historiography, tense, aspect, modality, topic, focus, negation, grammaticalization and stylistic analysis of individual texts. Besides the traditional approach towards the study of classical Chinese grammar, these were papers that worked on the basis of formal syntax and semantics: “Clausemedial WHchecking in Old Chinese” by Edith Aldridge and “Semantic Derivation and Classification of Predicatives in Classical Chinese” by Taraslvchenko.
