Based on “ supply chain” and MRP II, ERP is a kind of management idea, which widens management scope. ERP leads to a new structure that could integrate customer demand, internal manufacturing of enterprises and resources of suppliers, reflecting the idea of manufacturing strictly according to customer demand. There were 4 phases in the development of ERP, including MRP (Material Requirements Planning) phase, closeloop MRP phase, MRP II (Manufacturing Resource Planning) phase and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) phase. Meanwhile, we point out that China’ s enterprises should take the ERP model management model if they want to have petitiveness in international market. Although ERP is breakthrough of management idea, it is also a kind of challenge to China’ s enterprises due to risks of it. However, China’ s enterprises could greatly improve their petitiveness and survival ability by accepting the challenge of ERP, if they pay attention to analyze and overe risks and problems of ERP, in order to try to be world level advanced enterprises. So ERP model management model is of great significance, important value and bright prospect.
