(譯文同上) (3)later可以表示“過(guò)后”、“以后”： Ten minutes later, the bus arrived. 10分鐘以后，公共汽車(chē)來(lái)了。 Please e back later(on). 請(qǐng)過(guò)會(huì)兒再來(lái)。 a mess! 真是糟糕透了! 在口語(yǔ)中，a mess可以用來(lái)指“困境”、“窘境”、“一團(tuán)糟”等含義： I made a mess of my exam. 我考試考得一團(tuán)糟。 Make some jam if you want to, but don’t make a mess in the kitchen. 你如果愿意就做些果醬，不過(guò)別把廚房弄得一團(tuán)糟?！ ?had no sooner got back to the kitchen than the doorbell rang loud enough to wake the ，門(mén)鈴又響了起來(lái)，響聲足以把死人喚醒?！ ?1)連詞no sooner…than…(剛……就……)用于過(guò)去完成時(shí)。() (2)enough作副詞用在形容詞或副詞之后，有“足以……”的含義： The water in the pool is warm enough (to swim in). 池里的水夠暖和的(可以游泳)。
