Many times he considers Satan as the fitter emblem of his condition, for often, like Satan, when the monster views the bliss of his protectors, the bitter gall of envy rise within him. However, the monster considers that Satan even has his panions, fellow devils, to admire and encourage him, but the monster is solitary and abhorred. The monster’ misfortune increases his thoughts of revenge, and eventually he bees a real Satan. After his request which he wants Dr Frankenstein to make a female monster for him is rejected. He receives the identity of monster human being gave him and begins to murder. He mits a chain of heinous crimes. He directly kills three people: Frankenstein’s little brother, his wife and his good friend and indirectly kills a servant girl. Desiring for Death―Setting Himself on Fire The monster’s last behavior is the most negative form of degradation. The behavior is dominated by the desire to return womb, the earth or the death. The monster chooses to mit suicide because of loneliness and despair. Because Frankenstein, the only person that he can municate with, is dead. He is the main object of the monster’s revenge.In addition, there may be some effect of the book Sorrows of Werter on the mind of the monster . It is also a kind of rational regression. Because the monster confesses to Frankenstein’ remains deeply at last:” I should have wept to die。 now it is my only consolation. Polluted by crimes and torn by the bitterest remorse, where can I find rest but in death.” (:240)3 .The Reasons that Cause the Monster’ Mental Changes The Lack of SelfIdentity The monster’s ugly appearance is the direct cause for his inferiority and abandonment by his father. Also , it is the reason why the society don’t accept him. The monster feels very painful for his ugly appearance. “The face of the creature was horrible. Its skin was thin and yellow, and its eyes were as yellow as its skin. Name just like our ID card in the world. Naming is the precondition of people’s social existence. Having a name lets us clearly know our social status and social scope. It can make people play his role contently and enterprisingly. The monster has no name and his title is “the being” or the “monster”. “the being” is a general term which any organism can be referred to.Moreover, the monster doesn’t know what he is and where does he e from. Just as he says “What was I? Of my creation and creator I was absolutely ignorant, but I know that I possessed no money, no friend, no kind of property. He often explodes “ Who was I? Where did I e from? What was my destination? These question continually recurred, but I was unable to solve them.” (Shelley,1996:200) these books makes him realize his identity of “ otherness” and strengthen his desire to make life more meaningful.Maslow believes that people cannot live alone in this world, and the needs of the heart is deeper than physiological needs. Everyone is eager to get a feeling of social existence and social acceptance, and only in this way can more deeply feel that the value of oneself and produce positive effect. Being Unaccepted by the Society The monster is a social outcast, at the beginning of his birth, he is suffering the aversion and rejection from the human society.
