SECTION2 CIVIL WORKS 1. Scope of Works The scope of work consists of the construction of civil works. This work shall include but not limited to the following area: general area, THF production, central boiler, flare stack, isobutane storage, poly THF, used FF water basin / FF storage tanks, interconnecting piperack, cooling tower, tank farm, road and parking. The main quantity of the work is as following: 51025m3 earthworks, 21674m3 concrete and rebars. 2. Earthwork Site Clearing Clearing consists of the removal and disposal of everything above ground level including overhanging branches. The materials to be cleared include trees, stumps, logs, brush, undergrowth, grass crops loose vegetable matter, structures. The Construction Contractor shall use the excavator and bulldozer in bine to handtools to strip top soil in all areas to be excavated or filled and grub up and removed all roots or rubbish and clear the site of the works. All rubbish and material so obtained shall be destroyed, burnt or removed from site to a location as advised by Contractor. Top soil shall be stockpiled at location approved by Contractor. All existing facilities, including roads and drainage ditches, shall be protected and maintained throughout the construction period. Excavation Excavation work consists of all excavation within the limits of the area between the demarcations, as shown on the drawings or as directed by the Contractor, the removal, handling and proper utilization or disposal of all excavated materials and shaping of excavation and preparation of exposed surface of excavation for the entire construction area, in accordance with the Specifications and the lines, levels, grades, dimensions and crosssections shown on the Drawings and as required by the Contractor. Prior to starting excavation operations in any area, the Construction Contractor shall: Civil Works, Underground Piping amp。 Building Works Method Statement 2/66 Take steps to regulate the natural drainage of the water flowing on the surface of the ground, to prevent flooding of excavations, Ensure that all necessary site clearance and demolition in that area has been performed in accordance with these Specifications, Notify the Contractor sufficiently in advance of the beginning of any excavation so that crosssectional elevations and measurements can be taken of the undisturbed ground. The existing ground adjacent to the structures shall not be disturbed without the permission of the Contractor. Trenches or foundation pits for structures or structure footings shall be of sufficient size to permit the placing of structures or structure footings of the full width and length specified or directed. During the excavation, special care shall be taken not disturb the finished pile and the final removal of the foundation material about 15cm thick shall be made by manual method only when the blinding concrete is about to be placed. After the excavation pleted, all loose and displaced material shall be removed, leaving a smooth, solid bed to receive the footing. The sides of excavations shall be adequately supported by timbering, steel sheeting, strutting, shoring, etc, as to ensure the safety of workmen, freedom from damage of any structure of services and to prevent any movement of adjacent soil. All such supports shall be maintained until the constructional work is sufficiently advanced to permit the timbering, etc., to be withdrawn. All excavation shall be kept free of standing water. Adequate water pumps with other dewatering system shall be installed to keep dry during the excavation until the concrete has set sufficiently. After each excavation is pleted, the Construction Contractor shall notify the Contractor to that effect, and no footing or bedding material shall be placed until the Contractor has approved the depth of excavation and the character of the foundation material. All rock or other hard foundation material shall be cleaned of all loose material and cut to a firm surface, either level, stepped or serrated as directed by the Contractor. All seams or crevices shall be cleaned out and grouted. All loose and disintegrated rock and thin strata shall be removed.
