But for the English readers, who believe that “Less exaggeration would actually be more convincing.” (Duan Liancheng 1988: 288) and attach great importance to the brevity and clarity, the flowery and verbose English version is nothing but a heap of adjectives and nouns.佛跳墻”(福州名菜)? In China, cock is symbol of happiness and blessing that enjoy high preference nationwide, however, it is a somewhat rude word and is frequently used to indicate some offensive people in Englishspeaking countries, thus it is not so appropriate to use such kind of words in tourist materials.? So, the better version should be: “rooster announcing the daybreak”.
