【文章內容簡介】 Waley （亞瑟 韋利） ? 理雅各： The Tao that can be trodden is not the enduring and unchanging Tao. ? 林語堂： The Tao that can be told of ? Is not the Absolute Tao. ? 多義和歧義 ? 詞語的多義與歧義歷來有之，只是古文中的多義與歧義更令譯者困惑而已。時空差距大，文化差異大 ,造成語義模糊而又無法查證、難以表達。 ? 獨樂樂，不如眾樂樂。 ? 智者樂山，仁者樂水。 ? 例如： ? 由，誨女知之乎？知之為知之，不知為不知，是 知 也。 (《 論語 為政 》 ) ? 這句話中出現(xiàn) 6個 “ 知 ” 字 ， 古時 “ 知 ” 可作 “ 聰明 ” 、 “ 智慧 ” 解 ， 那么這第 6個 “ 知 ” 字究竟是什么意思呢 ？ 是 “ 真正知道 ” 還是 “ 聰明 ” 呢 ？ ? 譯文可以這樣處理： ? (1) You, shall I teach you what knowledge is? When you know a thing ,to hold that you know it。 and when you do not know a thing, to allow that you do not know it。 —this is knowledge. ? (2) You, do you know my teaching? If you know it, say you know. If you don’t know it, say you don’t. This is wisdom. ? 古今、通假和詞能消長 ? 先秦兩漢古籍中通假字很多，不明通假就會誤譯。 ? 請看下例：八月剝棗。 (《 詩經 七月 》 ) “剝”就是通假字，剝者，擊也。 ? 此句許淵沖譯成： ? In eighth moon down the dates we beat. (八月打下大紅棗。 ) ? 下面兩個句子中的“說”字也是通假字，如何譯？ ? (1)成事不說，遂事不諫，既往不咎。 (《 論語 八佾 》 )。 ? (2)非不說子之道，力不足也。 (《 論語 雍也 》 )。 ? 第 1句中的“說”字古義今義相同，該句可譯成： ? It is bootless to discuss acplished facts, to protest against things past remedy, to find fault with bygone things. ? 理雅各譯成： ? Under this teacher’s guidance, the perplexities of the students are removed. ? 文言被動句與英語的被動句 ? 參閱 《 大學英語通用翻譯教程 》 第 111頁 ? 文言文中的被動句大多借助一些 被動詞 來表示 ， 這一標記相當于英語被動句中的 by。 ? 1） 用介詞 “ 于 ” 、 “ 受 …… 于 …… ”表示 ， 相當于英語的被動句 be + done by sb. ? 勞心者治人 ， 勞力者 治于人 。 （ 《 孟子 》 ） ? Those who work with their minds rule others。 those who work with their strength are ruled by others. ? 吾不能舉全吳之地，十萬之眾， 受制于人 。 ? （司馬光 《 資治通鑒 》 ） ?
