This program was supported by China’s Hitech Research and Development Program(863 program) in 2002. After a twoyear research, productions (including differential culture media for coliform and Escherichia coli, rapid and quantitative detection technology, convenient and practicality detection test paper) had been acquired. Two patents has been applied and a research paper was awarded excellence paper at the annual academic meeting of China Oceanography Academy in 2003. These productions are applicable to detect coliform and Escherichia coli in food、drug、dishware and environmental samples. In our study, the techniques including selection breeding、cross breeding、chromosomal manipulation、molecular marker assisted selection and artificial sex reversal, which integrates genetic improvement and sex determination, were used to breed genetically improved female fries of large yellow croaker.
