【正文】 students, when they have already known that reading is very important in their English study, they will have the desire to read more. This is the first step.Second, reading is very important for their growing. Our students’ dialectical thought and creative thought are developed quickly. “By reading, they can expand their knowledge, change and form their own views. And they can make their thoughts and feelings to a higher level, and their ways and techniques are being higher.”⑤2. Choose suitable reading materialsWe should provide different styles of articles. There are many ways to do it. English newspapers, English journals and we can also get many from the Internet. We should choose different materials according to their different levels. I think that the articles should be a little hard, but not too hard.3. Connect reading with our everyday teaching When reading an article, readers are sure to meet some language barriers, such as some new words, sentences structures, and so on. And at the same time, they will also meet some nonlanguage difficulties, or we can say some cultural ones, such as new concepts, the topic of the articles and whether the article is new or not, and so on. And the two factors are often mixed together .So analyzing difficult sentences and words, intensifying and enlarging their language knowledge are necessary and important. And this step should be done in our daily teaching, especially those in our textbooks. And at the same time, teachers should introduce some culturallyloaded words, sentences and literary quotations.4. Try out different new ways and methods to improve reading abilityLimited reading: That means teachers should limit some reading materials and let students read them. For example, when we study “The tale of two cities”, we should search some materials about the writerCharles Dickens, the history article of that time and something about the famous novel. This way can help students enlarge their knowledge and get enough information about the topic.Entirety reading: This is a very helpful technique for our examination. When reading, the students should pay special attention to the whole article, but not individual word or sentence. The scholar, F Smith of Canada once said the reading technique in fact lies in using your eyes as little as possible. When we are experienced at reading, we have learned to depend on our original knowledge, depend on our brain. We hardly need those printed symbols on the paper. This is very useful. First, it is helpful to help students municate in English with each other. And it is very helpful for students to learn English actively and it may form a new reading style, which makes the students be the center. And it can help created a natural and harmonious language environment. At last, it can help students learn how to analyze, solve and use English.5. Some reading ways should be introduced to our studentsIn our present teaching, much time has been wasted. When meeting with some difficult articles, teachers spend much time explaining each sentence. But it is useless. We should throw away the bad habit. What should we do then?Our task is to guide our students develop their knowledge structure and adjust themselves to the new reading materials. For example, in many articles, we can meet many new ideas. They are not known by teachers, let alone our students. So simple translation is useless .We should let our students know the method of reading and try to grasp it general meaning. It is very important.6. Enlarge students’ cultural knowledgeSince it is very important to know about foreign cultures, in our class teaching, we should introduce some cultural knowledge related to English. Our textbooks provide abundant cultural information for us. We should prepare enough English cultural background knowledge and social customs, which can attract students’ interest.
