Depending on design/safety requirements, the controller may or may not contain an isolation mechanism (such as optocouplers) to isolate it from the DC output. The standard defines four classes of equipment depending on its type and current waveform. The most rigorous limits (class D) are established for personal puters, puter monitors, and TV receivers.
