The plausibility sensor is a oneaxis acceleration sensor and is integrated in the airbag control unit. The sensor is used to generate a separate crash plausibility signal. By means of its signals the airbag control unit can verify the triggering decision. It measures accelerations both in the vehicle’s longitudinal and vertical axis. Together with the angular rate signal the rollover sensing algorithm is able to detect a vehicle rollover event.
