Af ter a gr eat many l oud explosions, the r ace began. Many of t he car s br oke down on the course and some dri ver s spent mor e ti me under t hei r car s than i n them ! A f ew cars, however, plet ed the r ace. The winni ng car r eached a speed of for ty m il es an hour much faster than any of it s ri val s. I t sped downhil l at t he end of t he race and it s dri ver had a l ot of t rouble t ryi ng to stop i t. The r ace gave ever yone a great deal of pl easure.
