We focus on the demand chain management and we consider as an example the residential real estate services. EDemand Chain Management A value chain is a chain of activities that a firm operating in a specific industry performs in order to provide valuable products and services for the market.[WikiValue]. Michael Porter (1985) has made a major contribution on related issues of business management. The valuechain concept has been enlarged besides individual firms. It can apply to distribution networks and whole supply chains. The delivery of a mix of products and services to the end customer will mobilize different economic factors, each managing its own value chain. The Supply chain management includes the methods, systems, and leadership that continuously improve an organization’s integrated processes for product and service design, purchasing, inventory management, planning and scheduling, logistics, distribution, and customer satisfaction (Mentzer et al., 2001). Demand chain management (DCM) is the same as supply chain management, but with emphasis on consumer pull vs. supplier push. The demand chain begins with customers, then funnels through any resellers, distributors, and other business partners who help sell the pany’s products and services. The available webbased technologies now permit strong customer and supplier integration for inventory planning, demand forecasting, order scheduling, targeted marketing and customer relationship management. Frohlich and Westbrook (2002b) introduce four webbased demand and supply integration strategies (Figure 1) that describe the extent to which panies are using the Internet in integration with their suppliers or customers.Figure 1. Only Realtors had plete access to MLS listings and housing information. Even if a buyer saw a house in an advertisement, it usually never contained an address. This forced the buyer to call or visit a real estate office for more information and to interact with an agent. After the introduction of the internet in the residential industry, home buyers have more information available to them than ever before. Because of this, Realtors no longer control the process, and it is possible today to link seller and buyer of a house without intermediaries. New forms of brokerage (. discounted brokerage) are evolving and modifying the realestate industry structure. Besides, there seems to be a growing trend of unbundled services typically offered by realestate agents. There have been new development of internet services in real estate industry. Several real estate search engines have been developed providing advanced tools and information for the different actors of this industry. This involves not only property search, but also other activities like mortgage search, title search, value analysis etc. In another work, we analyzed and pared several advanced real estate search engine services. These consist of several subsystems with many sets of activities or processes. As examples of these features we can list: the value analysis service, mobile application, home alert, title pany and others. These new services created new changes in the residential real estate structure. The interaction between the real estate agent and the buyer is now carried out by , teleconference, file sharing. Also, we noticed that the role of the real estate agent played in the advanced real estate scenarios bees less important pared to the traditional real estate industry. Using the real estate search engines, buyers and sellers can list and search for houses, potentially bypassing traditional realestate agents.We can consider that the change in residential real estate industry structure is illustrated in several dimensions: ?
