At last, it can help students learn how to analyze, solve and use English. 5. Some reading ways should be introduced to our students In our present teaching, much time has been wasted. When meeting with some difficult articles, teachers spend much time explaining each sentence. But it is useless. We should throw away the bad habit. What should we do then? Our task is to guide our students develop their knowledge structure and adjust themselves to the new reading materials. For example, in many articles, we can meet many new ideas. They are not known by teachers, let alone our students. So simple translation is useless .We should let our students know the method of reading and try to grasp it general meaning. It is very important. 6. Enlarge students’ cultural knowledge Since it is very important to know about foreign cultures, in our class teaching, we should introduce some cultural knowledge related to English. Our textbooks provide abundant cultural information for us. We should prepare enough English cultural background knowledge and social customs, which can attract students’ interest. For example。 when we study “ Travel in Australia” , we can learn something about Australian geography, 10 population and climate. And in the period, we can add such reading materials about its history, main cities, famous buildings and places of interest, and some customs. Also we can make students learn by themselves, for example, when we study “ Thanksgiving Day” , we can hold a discussion about American main festivalshow did they e into being? Is there any difference between American festivals and Chinese ones? And so on. 11 Conclusion Reading teaching is an important part in our teaching. We should do understand the importance of reading and we should do our work according to a right theory and some correct ways. First, it can be taught and it should be taught well. Second, reading is an active course between writers and readers. Third, some basic knowledge, such as a student’ s vocabulary, his ability of analyzing sentence structure is important. But at the same time, it is also necessary for our students to master wide knowledge and some techniques to understand articles better. Fourth, teachers should take different measures to improve students’ reading ability.
