【正文】 three concrete strategies will be illustrated under guide of text type theory. DeletionDeletion means that in translating a source text, some unimportant or irrelevant information can be eliminated in order to make the target text more readable. This is a strategy that is mon in CE translation of Chinese university profiles. Newmark (2001) proposes that technical terminology, dialect, jargon and slogans are usually canceled and this omission does not have much impact on conveying the original message. Deletion is designed to achieve simple, concise, and key information which can be transmitted clearly to the target audience. The following is an example of this kind of translation. Subordination While translating, using clause, participle phrases, or prepositional phrases to rearrange the Chinese parallel structure is a very effective way to avoid Chinglish. The English sentence pattern of subordination would stress on the important part of the sentence, and it would be more close to the target readers. The source text is posed by seven parallel verbs only for rhetoric function which actually are not parallel in meaning. Both of them are not the core of the sentence, while the seventh verb is. Therefore, the key part of this sentence lies in the last verb structure. The translated version turns those minor parts into a clause, which highlight the core of the sentence.5 ConclusionThe above part discussed the translation of different texts of university profiles as separate sections, however, it should be noted that there is no absolute single text function of a university profile. Instead, university profile possesses the hybrid nature with the informative function being dominant. With regard to this nature, therefore, it is too simple to deal with university profile either by semantic translation or municative translation since the translator must deal with the coexistence of the informative, vocative and expressive functions in the same text. In this case, it is plausible to deal with the translation both at the broad level and detailed level. At the broad level, municative translation is adopted, at the detailed level, many specific methods are applied, such as addition, deletion and so on. In translating the introduction of the university, the translator uses addition in order to show this prehensive university, whose history is as long as the ancient city, and has a rich heritage and reputation of its own kind. Therefore, regarding the translation of university, the following procedures are remended in translating the university profiles. First, the translator should read the whole text through to recognize the hybrid nature of a university as being informative, vocative and expressive, mapping out their boundaries if possible. Second, he should determine the text type so that the proper translation methods can be adopted accordingly.12Bibliography[1]Newmark, P. Communicative and Semantic Translation. Babel, 2002.
