d go out with my friend to have fun. I just don’t like to study. Well, If I have more free time, I will use it to learn something, like dancing or a musical instrument. Speaking of that, I’ve always wanted to be able to play the piano. So, if I have time, I’d like to take a piano class. 12. Colors l What’s your favorite color? (Why do you like it/them?) l Will you wear clothes of the colors you like? l Will you paint your room in the colors you like? l What colors have special meaning in your country? Well, I prefer cool colors, like green, blue and white. I like green cos it’s the color of the nature, and it’s a symbol of hope, and an ecofriendly lifestyle, and it’s really pleasnt to the eye. I also love blue, just like I love a blue sky and the blue ocean. They are so beautiful, you know. And I love white simply cos it’s simple and pure. I don’t have any green clothes, but I do have a blue jacket and some white shirts/bouses and a white scarf. You know, liking a color is one thing, but wearing it is quite another. And I think for the colors you wear, the most important thing is the matching. You have to make sure that all the colors you wear go together, otherwise you would make youself look odd/weird, you know. And another important thing is whether the colors suit you, especailly whether it suits your plexion. That’s very important. Yes, I will paint my room white, or put white wallpaper on the walls, because white is a neutral color, and it goes well with most other colors, so it will be easier for me choose the other items in my room, you know the curtain, furniture, bedspread, and closet. I need to make sure that all the colors in my room look nice together and I feel fortable in it. Well, actually, many colors have special symbolic meanings in our culture. Red, for example, um, in Chinese culture, red is a jubilent color, so you will see it in all kinds of celebrations and ceremonies, like Spring Festival, when the streets are decorated with red lanterns and doors with red couplets, and windows with red paper cuts. (And another interesting color is yellow. It’s interesting because it has both positve and negative symbolic meanings. In ancient China, it was the color for emperors only, symbolizing paramount power, but now, you can see the yellow color everywhere. And besides that, yellow gets another meaning: pornography. I mean, in Chinese we call a porn film “yellow”, In English, you call it blue, right?)13. Museums l Are there a lot of museums in your country/city?l Or: Are there any famous museums in your country/city? l Or: What kinds of museums are popular in your city/country? 注意不要說:There have…或者 in my hometown have…, 而要說:In my hometown, there is/are…l Did you ever visit any museums in your childhood? (國(guó)外在19世紀(jì)就有博物館了,中國(guó)建博物館只是20世紀(jì)中后期的事兒了)l When was the last time you went to the museum? 哈哈l Do you often visit museums? l What kind of museums do you like? 如果你喜歡去,那你喜歡哪類博物館呢,是電影還是藝術(shù)博物館,還是別的,為什么呢)?l Do you think museums are important? l Should museums charge visitors? l Do you think it’s good to sell things to visitors in museums?l Or: Many museums sell things to vistors. Do you think it’s right? Well, you may find this hard to believe, but there is no museum in my hometown. It’s a young industrial city, with a history of only about 40 years, so I didn39。t visit any museum when I was a child. Certainly. in China, there are lots of museums, but I’ve never been to any of them. It’s a shame, but it’s true. I’m just not into it. In my hometown, there is only a very small museum about the history of my hometown. It’s a very old building. I went there once when I was a child, on a trip organized by the school, but I didn’t like it there. It was a dead place, and we were not allowed to talk aloud or touch anything there. It was so boring, so I never went back there again. I’ve been to some of the great museums in China. For example, the history museum of China and the Palace museum in Beijing, as well as the Musuem of TerriCotta warriors in Xi’an, Shanxi province. I saw a lot of precious historical relics in those musuems, but actually I didn39。t really enjoy my visit there, because it was not much fun. You know, it was just a cursory visit, and I wasn’t very much into those old stuff. Well, I’m not a musuemgoer, but I have to say that museums are important, because we need places to keep and display those precious historical things, where people can go and learn about history if they want to. And I think visiting a good museum should be more interesting than reading a history book. Um, I think if it39。s a public museum, they shouldn’t charge the vistors the admission (fee), because it’s publicly funded, but if it’s private one, I think we should pay to visit it because it’s privately funded. Well, I don’t see anything wrong with that, as long as they don’t force the visitors to buy anything. And actually, when we visit a musuem, we often want to buy something as a souvenir, or we may get thirsty and want to get something to drink, so I think it actually makes things easier for the visitors. However, I don’t think it’s a good idea to have a shop in the museum, because it just doesn’t belong there. It should be somewhere outside the museum. 14. Houseworkl Do you often do the housework? l What housework do you like to do?這句話其實(shí)是接著“Yes, I do”.
