As the requirements of usage is determined under the type of cam mechanism,the basic parameters and the follower motion, we can strike for the design of cam profile. Because the process of design is plex, the design is less precise, and the design results can not be directly applied to the cam machining, the traditional methods of cam design (mainly mapping and analysis Law), have bee increasingly unable to meet the current fast and accurate design of the cam and meet the basic requirements of NC。 using Solidworks technical methods to replace the traditional cam design can greatly shorten the design cycle, improve design quality and meet the objective need of cam machining. So it is a cam design trend. This paper presents a theory of using Excel tool to generate the data of the theoretical contour points of cam, in the environment of Solidworks directly using of 3D point data to contour out cam theoretical curve with spline drawing, next by the relevant mands obtaining cam curve, and then pleting the threedimensional modeling of the matrix cam by the tensile characteristics.Keywords Solidworks Cam Theoretical contour Threedimensional modeling Assembly
