Comments: INTERVIEWING GUIDELINES for SCREENING INTERVIEW The following guidelines cover interview areas which all interviewers should keep in mind: a. Use the interview session to screen candidates and shortlist them into departmental sections ready for further interviews or unsuccessful notification. b. Ensure candidates are at ease. Interviewers represent the hotel, hence, ensure positive image is projected for our hotel. Stand up as they are brought to your table, smile, shake their hand and wele them. Thank them for their time today. c. Explain that this is a screening interview and as such, will be short and take 510 minutes. Explain that at the end of this, the hotel will be getting in touch with all candidates over the next 3 weeks either by telephone or letter. d. Briefly introduce the Hotel and give the candidate information about the hotel and the pany, the job related roles and responsibilities, working conditions, benefits and opportunities for advancement. See attached Fact Sheet. e. Be Professional at all times. For consistency, use the attached “Screening Form” during the WalkIn Interview. Do not stray and ask any discriminatory or non job related questions. f. If you do not speak the home language and are having trouble municating, ask for assistance in translation. g. End the meeting on a warm note advising the candidate that the hotel will be in contact with every candidate over the ing period either by letter or through telephone. Do not offer, promise a position to any candidate. State “Thank you for your time today. As you can see we have had many applicants apply with us and we now need to shortlist, then there will be other rounds of interviewing, reference checks and health checks to conduct. It sounds like a lengthy process but we will make it as short as possible. You will hear from the hotel either through telephone or letter over the next two – three weeks. Thank you again for your time today”. If you are asked “how did I do?”. Simply reply “I’m sure you did well however as I have mentioned we have had many candidates to shortlist and we must first go through all the steps first. Thankyou for your time and you will hear from us soon.” h. Ensure sufficient “Reserved” candidates are kept for further review.
