a brief summary of the feelings which I have now about this seminar: We have been listening to… As a practical result of this seminar, and before we depart we could maybe use the opportunity and plan something for the future. For example socalled bilateral agreements between universities can help a lot of student exchange. I am very happy about the discussions which we had this afternoon on this topic. Before closing: On behalf of FIG Commission 2, I want to thank you, Mr. President, Professor Li Deren to make this seminar possible I want to thank you, professor Wu Zhongming who has been hosting us both during daytime as well as evenings and I want to thank you, Mrs. Professor Liu Yanfang to be the hard worker and the warm heart of this international meeting I want to thank everyone who worked for our seminar and made it to be a success. 領(lǐng)獎致辭: Ladies and Gentlemen, please five me if my words are inadequate in thanking you for your very great kindness. If I were to mention all those who have shown me such wonderful generosity through Gone with the Wind, I should have to entertain you with an oration as long as Gone with the Wind itself. So, if I may, I should like to devote my thanks on this occasion to that conversant figure of energy, courage and very great kindness in whom all points of Gone with the Wind meet, Mr. David Selznick. 倡議書 Shenzhen Peace 921 Proposals People of the world hate bitterly war and violence and desire for peace and happiness… We would like to issue this peace proposal to the UN, to all nations and to all people of the world.. It is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get together, just like Christmas in the West. All people living away from home go back, and airports, railway stations and longdistance bus stations are crowded with home returnees. Many customs acpany the Spring Festival. Store owners are busy then as everybody goes out to purchase necessities for the New Year. Before the New Year es, the people pletely clean the indoors and outdoors of their homes as well as their clothes, bedclothes and all their utensils. Then people begin decorating their rooms featuring an atmosphere of rejoicing and festivity. Two big red lanterns can be raised on both sides of the front door. People attach great importance to Spring Festival Eve. At that time, all family members eat dinner together. After the luxurious dinner, the whole family will sit together, chatting and watching TV. Waking up on New Year, everybody dresses up and go out to extend greetings to their relatives and friends. Burning fireworks is the most typical custom on the Spring Festival. People thought the spluttering sound could help drive away evil spirits. 計(jì)劃 Horseracing is Exciting I started to plan some activities to celebrate New Year’s Day as early as one month ago: Joining the countdown carnival in Times Square, taking a walk on the coast along Victoria Harbor to watch the dazzling bejewlled skyscrapers and having a New Year’s feast with my family. It may seem nothing special or creative, but these are actually the typical New Year’s Day activities of the people in Hong Kong. However, nothing sets New Year’s Day abuzz with excitement quite like the thrill of horseracing in Hong Kong. Tens of thousands of people stream into the racecourse for betting. As the racing horse symbolizes vitality, they hope that it can bring them the good fortune at the beginning of the year. I share the same wish with them, although I never gamble. A Party for Peace I will have a house party with my friends in London on New Year’s Eve. The theme will be peace. Why? Because that is the New Year’s wish for all human beings! Everyone is asked to dress up as related to the theme or he will be refused for entry. I serve my friends with all kinds of drinks ranging from spirits to coke. With dance music from my personal collection, they can dance everywhere in the house! There will be some emotional moments when people are asked to speak out their most unfettable moments during the year. People must love this crazy night. It will be a great time for my dear friends and me to relax after a whole year’s hard work. Let’s play hard, work hard, and live the life we want!
