【正文】 說(shuō)，理想的申請(qǐng)者“has string academic ability, relevant work experience, leadership potential, and career drive”。呵呵，當(dāng)然這是學(xué)校的美好理想，與現(xiàn)實(shí)總是有距離的。所以GPA不高，或者沒(méi)有相關(guān)學(xué)術(shù)北京，或者工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)少，都不用太擔(dān)心。重要的是，是不是真的很喜歡這個(gè)專業(yè)，是不是很了解它，個(gè)人性格和素質(zhì)適合不適合，以及有沒(méi)有清晰的職業(yè)規(guī)劃。如果在對(duì)專業(yè)的理性認(rèn)識(shí)還不夠的情況下申請(qǐng)，硬件條件再好，可能錄取的希望也不大。所以建議沒(méi)有相關(guān)背景的申請(qǐng)者多做點(diǎn)功課，了解自己，了解專業(yè)。要是學(xué)了兩年才發(fā)現(xiàn)“原來(lái)酒店管理不是我想象的那樣啊”，“原來(lái)我不適合啊”，“原來(lái)做這個(gè)行業(yè)這么辛苦啊”，就有點(diǎn)晚啦。我想這也是學(xué)校要求工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)的原因之一。6，是不是一定要工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)?zāi)? 不一定，但是有更好。美國(guó)所有酒店管理學(xué)校當(dāng)中，Cornell和UNLV對(duì)工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)要求最高。下面的這段話摘自Cornell網(wǎng)站，我覺(jué)得是對(duì)工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)問(wèn)題的最好詮釋。We look for candidates with strong supervisory or managerial skills and leadership potential, and we prefer those with a year or more of fulltime hospitalityrelated work experience. Three years of work experience has been the average for students admitted in the past few years. Work experience is beneficial for several reasons. It will help you grasp concepts more easily and retain them more fully. And it enhances class discussions. Our classes are small and interactive. Prior work experience enables you to participate more actively. Work experience demonstrates mitment to the industry. We are the best at what we do, and we are highly specialized. Work experience demonstrates that you know what you are undertaking. If you have worked for years in finance, information technology, real estate, or some other field and wish to switch to hospitality, that is fine. We will encourage you to build on your previous experience, which can be adapted to an aspect of hospitality. During the application process, we expect you to articulate your mitment to the industry. Finally, work experience makes you more marketable. It enables you to offer experience bined with an advanced degree, and if you choose a career track that meshes with previous work experience, we can help you position yourself for managementtrack positions, if that is what you want.總體來(lái)說(shuō)，學(xué)校不是單純?yōu)榱斯ぷ髂晗薜臄?shù)字而設(shè)立這個(gè)要求。如果你的素質(zhì)，專業(yè)認(rèn)識(shí)，職業(yè)規(guī)劃都已經(jīng)非常professional，那有沒(méi)有工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)都不是問(wèn)題。7, 熱門學(xué)校簡(jiǎn)介(1) Cornell： Cornell的酒店研究生項(xiàng)目包括MS，MMH和phD。其中MS主要是為phD做準(zhǔn)備，將來(lái)從事教育，研究，咨詢等領(lǐng)域的工作。而MMH則是MBA式的教學(xué)，一年的項(xiàng)目，學(xué)費(fèi)加生活費(fèi)$。適合有3年左右工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)的人士，但每年也會(huì)招一兩個(gè)畢業(yè)生。不過(guò)個(gè)人覺(jué)得，只有在一定經(jīng)驗(yàn)積累的基礎(chǔ)上，這個(gè)短時(shí)間的昂貴的項(xiàng)目才物有所值。而且它每年5月份開(kāi)學(xué)，而那個(gè)時(shí)候本科畢業(yè)生。它擁有業(yè)界最龐大的校友組織康奈爾大學(xué)酒店協(xié)會(huì)，最好的學(xué)生創(chuàng)業(yè)組織IHE和最頂尖的研究所，號(hào)稱酒店業(yè)的Think Tank。(2) UNLV： UNLV的Harrah Hotel College 提供 MS in Hotel Administration, MS in Sport amp。 Leisure Management, phD in Hospitality Administration 和 Dual MBA/MS in Hotel Administration. 其中Dual MBA/MS 需要商學(xué)院和酒店學(xué)院同時(shí)錄取。不過(guò)申請(qǐng)的時(shí)候只需要遞交一份材料給商學(xué)院，它審?fù)炅藭?huì)交給酒店學(xué)院。UNLV的學(xué)費(fèi)算是比較便宜的，每年加上生活費(fèi)$3w左右。它對(duì)于GT的要求也不高，底線都是550。酒店學(xué)院明確要求more than one year managerial work experience，極少破例。8 /
