Sofia’s behavior of fighting against Albert and Harpo even the white people gives her a deep impression. Shug teaches Celie to respect herself and to bee confident, which makes Celie realize the value of her own. Nettie and her letters give Celie great spiritual encouragement. As a result, Celie begins to resist and dare to say what she thinks in her heart and say “no” to Albert. Knowing that Albert has been concealing her sister’s letters for many years, Celie bees very angry that she wants to leave him and even has an impulse to kill him, which is out of Celie’s imagination before. In the encouragement of Shug, Celie begins to make pants in order to make a living. During that time, only men can wear pants while women are not allowed, but Celie dares to break the tradition and she not only wears the pants but also designs and makes all kinds of pants for both males and females, which brings her a great wealth and success and then she bees a successful business woman. She gains the economic independence so that she doesn’t need to rely on men any more but rely on herself. From then on, she changes her fate that she is no longer the subsidiary of men but stands on her feet and bees the master of herself. Celie not only obtains her economic independence but also her identity and dignity。 in addition, it is helpful to establish the harmonious relationship between men and women.
