However, it can not meet the need of national industry and defense construction duing to poor manganese ore resources, low manganese ore grade and current coal or pyrite reduction roasting process with high energy consumption and serious air pollution. Therefore, exploiting consumption, and green process for extracting manganese has bee an urgent mission for developing manganese industry. In this paper, biomass is used as reductionroasting material at low temperature to study the biomass reductionammonium cycle conversionaqueous leaching process for extracting manganese from lowgrade manganese ore oxide. Take sawdust for an example, the reduction and leaching process was investigated. Effects of the mass ratio of manganese oxide ore to sawdust, reduction temperature and time, original ore particle size, ammonium sulfate quantity, ammonium sulfate roasting temperature and time, aqueous leaching temperature and time and stirring rate on the manganese recovery were discussed. And kiics of ammonium sulfate roasting conversion process and aqueous leaching process were studied.
