You can insure life, property etc. against fire, robbery or other unexpected accidents. Since the major means of transportation in international trade in marine shipping, we’ll mainly discuss marine insurance in this unit. In whatever the term is defined, insurance is a social device in which a group of individuals transfer risk and provide for payment of losses from funds contributed by all members who transferred risk.
