Eliminate the need of the operator to reach into the machine. 3. Make the machine controls convenient, identifiable, and protected from accidental activation. 4. Provide guards or safety devices. 5. Ensure good maintenance of machines, guards, and safety devices. ELEVEN STEPS ON MACHINE SAFETY 6. Provide for lockout of power. 7. Keep area around machine clean and clear of debris. 8. Establish good “match” between operator and machine. 9. See that proper dress and PPE are used. 10. Train employees in safe work practices. 11. Supervise employees to maintain safe work practices.
