First, the paper introduces the importance of Reactive power optimization in district power systems and establishes the mathematical shows the flow of solution to reactive power optimization with applied by geic , The STATCOM circuit diagram and work principle as well as its applications are introduced in detail in this paper. The control strategies of STATCOM are also discussed in the paper. The dissertation determines the detection means —— dq transformation theory of vector control based on instantaneous reactive power. PWM control by tracking the current technology to achieve direct control,namely directcurrent , Simulation system is constructed for STATCOM with MATLAB simulation results are able to prove the presented STATCOM’s ability to pensate for reactive power,and to improve the power quality.
