“uncle”、“aunt”這兩個詞就代替了這些稱謂的麻煩?？墒侨绻悄眠@些數(shù)字給英國人，可能他們只會一笑而過甚至?xí)X得奇怪為什么要花那么多錢買一堆數(shù)字。語言和文化是息息相關(guān)的, 有什么樣的文化, 就會有與之相對應(yīng)的語言來反映?！?的確如此, 這其中也包含著文化的差異?！比绻g者不熟悉圣經(jīng)里的這個典故，那么他在翻譯的時候就不能準(zhǔn)確地表達(dá)出原文的意思。后來, “an apple of Sodom” 比喻罪惡的城市, the west winter es, can spring be far behind.”（啊，西風(fēng)！假如冬天已經(jīng)來臨，春天還會遠(yuǎn)嗎？）如果不了解英國的地理環(huán)境，譯者在翻譯這個句子時可能就會感到困惑：為什么雪萊會歌頌寒冷的西風(fēng)呢？因此，這種地理環(huán)境的差異有時會給翻譯帶來較大的困難。中國西鄰高山，東臨大海，東風(fēng)就是溫暖春天的象征，所以中國人偏愛東風(fēng)，故素有“西風(fēng)凜冽”與“東風(fēng)送暖”之辭。中國人經(jīng)常用“天南地北”來表達(dá)對祖國幅員遼闊的贊嘆，而英國人則用“from sea to
