Since 1882, the use of the HVDC power transmission, especially in twentieth Century, the rapid development of high power switching devices, to promote the rapid development of the new HVDC transmission, the HVDC is extended to the distribution work and the development of new energy sources such as wider areas. DC transmission technology is wide, high technology content, strong prehensive technology, it not only promoted the development of power electronic technology, and with the development of puter technology, power electronic devices, the emergence of new materials, new energy development and utilization of renewable energy, will play a more important role for the development of electric power industry. This paper first introduces the HVDC technology development history and current situation at home and abroad, analyzes the basic structure and ponents of HVDC system, and summarizes the operation characteristics of the HVDC system. Discusses the HVDC, HVDC is based on voltage source converter (VSCHVDC). This paper analyzes the basic structure and its working principle, and establishes the simulation model of VSCHVDC system using Matlab software, through the analysis of simulation results, verify the HVDC system applicability and rationality.
