The main function of the client in this model is to present information and results produced by an application to the user. In this system model, the clients are sometimes referred to as “ thin” clients. This means that little or no application logic is executed on the client end, therefore, relatively little software is required to be installed on the client. The first tier supports a wide range of technology such as: ? Inter browsers: Many browsers are available such as Netscape Navigator or Inter Explorer. ? Personal digital assistants: They are small devices that give you access to a wide range of Web applications and services. Many PDAs are developed and exist on the market today, such as Palm Pilot by 3Com or iPAQ by Compaq. ? Mobile phones: These are efficient data access devices for a wide range of information. ?
