(12) Text 9 M: This hotel in India just got ranked the number one hotel in the world! W: What, by some silly website that specializes in top ten lists just to sell more ads? M: No, by Travel + Leisure magazine. (13) W: Oh, really? They really know their stuff. (13) Hey, that looks more like a palace! M: It’s designed after the ancient palaces of northern India. W: It looks like a lot of the rooms have balconies. M: Yeah, those are the suites that have direct access to private pools. But all the rooms have WiFi, flat screen TVs, kingsize beds, daily newspapers, and… (14) W: OK, stop talking! We’ve got to make our reservations! M: Well, hang on a second. You don’t really like Indian food. W: But I thought they offer other choices besides Indian food… M: Maybe. Also, this part of India is pretty quiet. There’s no shopping or clubbing. People go there to relax. (15) W: That’s OK. I can go shopping anywhere. M: The rooms start at $350 per night, and those suites are $750 per night.(16) W: Whoa! The national weather map shows a highpressure area all along the eastern coastline, which will bring them very pleasant, sunny weather from New York to Florida. But showers and thunderstorms are happening from the Ohio River all the way south to the Gulf coast, pouring down heavy amounts of rain over the Southern states. (17) By far the worst of the storms has happened in and around Texas. Some Texas stations have reported up to fifteen inches of rain in a 24hour period with high winds and thunderstorms. (18) Two typhoons were reported along the Gulf coast of Texas, but we haven’t got the exact information about any damage or injuries. Heavy amounts of snow were reported in the Rocky Mountain area with record cold temperatures in Denver and Boulder. As much as a foot of snow has fallen in some of the mountain stations. In contrast, temperatures in Arizona and the desert Southwest went over the 100degree mark again under bright, sunny skies. (19)
