【正文】 ） +單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞 + that clause He was such an honest boy that he was praised by the teacher． 他非常誠(chéng)實(shí) ， 因而受到老師贊揚(yáng) 。 Jimmy made such a noise that his father got very angry． 吉米大吵大鬧 ， 致使他父親大發(fā)雷霆 。 B． such（ +adj． ） +復(fù)數(shù)可數(shù)名詞 +that clause He had such long arms that he could almost touch the ceiling． 他胳膊很長(zhǎng) ， 幾乎能碰到天花板 。 They are such interesting books that I want to read them once more． 這些書(shū)非常有趣 ， 我想再讀一遍 。 C． such（ +adj． ） +不可數(shù)名詞 +that clause He made such progress that he did well in the mid－ term exam． 他進(jìn)步很快 ， 期中考試取得了很好的成績(jī) 。 The firefighter showed such great courage that he was highly praised by the government． 這位消防隊(duì)員表現(xiàn)出極大的勇氣 ， 因此受到了政府的高度贊揚(yáng) 。 5． In fact， his English in one of these articles was so good that Engels wrote him a letter and praised him for it． 事實(shí)上 ， 那些文章中有一篇他的英文寫(xiě)得很好 ， 恩格斯為此曾寫(xiě)信贊揚(yáng)他 。 so...that也作 “如此 …… 以至 ”解，連接一個(gè)表示結(jié)果的狀語(yǔ)從句。so...that與 such… that的意思和句法作用相同，但是因?yàn)?so（ adv．）和such（ adj．）的詞類不同，所以 so...that和 such...that的句子結(jié)構(gòu)也不同。試比較： so+adj．／ adv． +that clause（ so后跟形容詞或副詞） such（ a／ an） +n． +that clause（ such后跟名詞） It was so cold that we did not want to go out． It was such a cold day that we did not want to go out．天太冷了，我們都不想出去。 The play was so interesting that I went to see it several times．／ This was such an interesting play that I went to see it several times．這個(gè)話劇十分有趣，所以我去看過(guò)好幾次。 6． However， he went on to explain that he was not too sure about two things： the grammar and some of the idioms．不過(guò)，他接著說(shuō)明，在語(yǔ)法和某些習(xí)慣用語(yǔ)方面他還是不太有把握。 be sure about／ of的意思是 “確信 ”、 “有把握 ”，后跟名詞、代詞，表示某人對(duì)客觀事物有肯定的認(rèn)識(shí)和判斷。例如： I am sure of his success．我確信他會(huì)成功。 He lives in this building but I’m not sure about the room number．他住在這棟樓里，但是房間號(hào)碼我不太清楚。 be sure后除了跟 about／ of介詞短語(yǔ)外，還可以跟 that／ whether／where等引起的從句，表示某人 “確信／肯定 ”某事的意思。例如： I am sure（ that） I can run faster then you．我確信我比你跑得快。 I’m not sure where I left my notebook．我不能確定我把筆記本丟在什么地方了。 此外， be sure to do與 be sure of doing在意思上有區(qū)別。 be sure to do表示：肯定要做 …… ； be sure of doing表示：（某人）感覺(jué)肯定要做， …… （但事實(shí)未必如此）。例如： Manchester are sure to win； the other team haven’t got a chance．曼徹斯特隊(duì)肯定要贏，另一個(gè)隊(duì)連一點(diǎn)希望都沒(méi)有。 When the game started Jack was quite sure of winning． But after 15 minutes he began to lose confidence．比賽開(kāi)始時(shí)杰克感覺(jué)肯定要贏。但過(guò)了 15分鐘后，他開(kāi)始失去信心了。 7． In the years that followed， Marx kept on studying English and using it．在隨后的幾年中，馬克思繼續(xù)不斷地學(xué)習(xí)和使用英語(yǔ)。 keep on doing sth．的意思是 “繼續(xù)做某事 ”（ =continue／ go on doing sth．）例如： Although it started raining， we kept on working．盡管下起雨來(lái)了，我們?nèi)匀焕^續(xù)干活。 He kept on talking and laughing when the teacher came into the room．老師走進(jìn)教室后，他還在說(shuō)說(shuō)笑笑。 本課所學(xué)的 keep on doing sth． 和以前學(xué)的 keep doing sth． 在意思和用法上都相同 ， 都含有 “重復(fù)和繼續(xù) ”的意思 ， ?？梢酝ㄓ?， 但相對(duì)而言 ， keep on doing sth． 在語(yǔ)氣上較強(qiáng)一些 ， 強(qiáng)調(diào)動(dòng)作的不斷反復(fù) 。 例如： I have learned about 1000 words， but I keep（ on） fetting some of them． 我已經(jīng)學(xué)會(huì)了大約 1000個(gè)單詞 ， 可是有些我老是記不住 。 Why do they keep（ on） laughing all the time？ 他們?yōu)槭裁蠢鲜切€(gè)不停 ？ 在表示 “連續(xù)不斷的動(dòng)作或持續(xù)狀態(tài) ”時(shí) ， 常用 keep doing sth． ；而在強(qiáng)調(diào) “繼續(xù)干某事 ”（ 盡管動(dòng)作是斷斷續(xù)續(xù)的 ） 時(shí) ， 常用 keep on doing sth． ， 例如： You should not keep thinking about it． 你不應(yīng)該老想著這件事 。 He didn’t lose hope， and kept on trying． 他沒(méi)有灰心 ， 而是繼續(xù)努力地干 。 演講完畢，謝謝觀看！
