before, gtg meaning got to go. Some feel unfortable seeing these madeup phrases. Some others even argue that such expressions may pose a threat to our language. If I were to make ments, I would say that this is perfectly normal. First, languages were invented by people. If our ancestors could, why can’t their offspring? The truth is that languages were anything but what they are. They have always been changed and enriched. Second, languages are meant to municate ideas. If some coined words can be more expressive than those currently used, the public may take to them and consequently, they will bee part of everyone’s language. If their function is found to be limited, they are bound to fall into disuse. Evidently, words have their own rule of “the fittest survive”. So, just let it be. The 80s and 90s GenerationThe 80s and 90s generation has bee an issue today. Some associate them with words like selfish, dependent, and indulgent in merrymaking. Some others, however, perceive them as passionate, confident and intelligent. If I were to make ments, I would say that both arguments carry some weight. First, the majority of these youngsters are the only child of their parents under the family planning policy. Being the only sweetheart means receiving all the care on the part of the parents. They may thus bee used to taking instead of giving, and depending on those around instead of on themselves. In the meantime, the 80s and 90s generation have been growing up in a material abundance never witnessed by their elders. So they are more likely to take material forts for granted. But we have to note that born in the information era, these young folks have easier access to more knowledge and wisdom than previous generations. Chances are that they will be wiser, more sophisticated, and more capable of using such knowledge for improving themselves and the world. The allegation that they are selfish may be exaggerating. For example, countless teenagers applied themselves to offer help to those suffering from the earthquake that occurred not long ago. It seems that they have been misunderstood, at least in some aspects. To sum up, the 80s and 90s generation are not totally different from preceding ones. Those concerned about them may well rest assured.
