It marked a new way of painting that was more concerned with creating impressions of the transient effects(瞬 時(shí) 效 應(yīng) ) of light. Many artists painted outside, in an attempt to capture fleeting effects of sunlight on everyday scenes. Colours became more important than line in the creation of shimmering surfaces of vibrating colours. Van Gogh was influenced by his friendship with Impressionists. After seeing their paintings in Paris, he began to use brighter colors and broken brushstrokes. However he differed from them in one important way. As he wrote in 1888, ―Instead of trying to render what I see before me, I use color in a pletely arbitrary(任意的 ) way in order to express myself powerfully‖. Influence of Impressionism on Van Gogh Influenced by the paintings of the French impressionists and by the poetry of Paul Verlaine(魏爾倫 ) and so on, the movement in music was led by the French poser Claude Debussy. Musical impressionism emphasized tonal color and mood rather than formal structures such as the sonata and the symphony. Debussy, an active critic as well as a poser, viewed impressionism as a reaction to both the formal emphasis of such posers as Mozart and Beethoven and the emotional richness of romantic posers such as Robert Schumann and Franz Schubert. Impressionism is at the root of all modern art, because it was the first movement that managed to free itself from preconceived(預(yù)想的 ) ideas, and because it changed not only the way life was depicted but the way life was seen.‖ – Franceso Salvi ( famous Italian actor, edian, writer and singer) Thank you!
