Relationship between Language, Culture and CommunicationAfter reviewing the definition of culture and munication, we may be curious to know the relationship between language ,culture and munication .Does language shape culture or does culture shape language? The relation between them has been discussed for a long time. Since they are the three main elements in our discussion, I would like to cite three categories of metaphor to illustrate this matter.1) From a philosophical view Language + Culture = A living organization↓ ↓ ↓Flesh Blood Communication Language plus culture equal a living organism. Language is flesh and culture is blood. Without culture, language would be dead。 without language, culture would be no shape. 2) From a municative view: Language + Culture = Swimming↓ ↓ ↓Swimming skills Water Communication Communication is swimming。 language is swimming skills and culture is water. Without language, munication would be very limited (in very shallow water)。 without culture, there would be no munication at all.3) From a pragmatic view: Language + Culture = Communication↓ ↓ ↓Vehicle Traffic light Transportation Communication is like transportation. Language is the vehicle and culture is the traffic light. Language makes munication easier and faster。 culture regulates, sometimes promotes and sometimes hinders munication.Language is closely related to culture. Language is the carrier, container and instrument of culture. To bring about the function of bridge and tie of the language in the transnational, crossracial and crosscultural exchanges and to make the strange culture familiar to people in a foreign country, it is natural that people should depend on language to carry out translation and interpretation. It is translators and interpreters that carry out translation through language. Without language, it would be difficult to turn the crosscultural munication into reality. Then we e to the relationship between interpretation and crosscultural munication. Relationship between Business Interpretation and Crosscultural CommunicationGenerally speaking, interpretation sometimes deals with the conversion of the surface reference of linguistic notation, but most important of all, it deals with the deeper cultural sense to be brought about by the transplantation of different cultures till mutual munication can be carried out by different languages.Interpretation is not only the transference from one language to another, but also a form of special munication the interpreter coordinates exchanges between participants with different languages and ,interpretation is a specific act of crosscultural munication from the perspective of process. Daniel Gile(2002),understands interpretation is a municative behavior which serves interpretation has been clearly defined in this chapter, it is only confined to linguistic ,an interpreter proficient in both languages does not necessarily qualify for his or her job. It is not only an interlingual but also a crosscultural activity. Language can not be fully understood without the reference to ,interpretation undoubtedly would not be a literal rendering of content between languages but a dynamic procedure exploring in transforming the cultural connotation in one language into another which we consider it the cultural interpretation.Eugene Nida(1983) pointed out :“It is always assumed the translators are at least bilingual, but this is really not enough. To be fully petent the translator also needs to bicultural in order to read between lines. A translator must be able to sense what is internationally left implicit in the source text and what can and should be made implicit into the translated text.” Since interpretation is closely related to translation and business interpretation is one dominating category in interpretation, some ideas about translation also apply to interpretation, some ideas on interpretation enjoys similar applicability to business interpretation.Through this thesis, the author tries to make a tentative study on business interpretation from a totally different angle from previous ,I would like to briefly review the studies having been made both at home and abroad. In this way, the advantages and creativity will be obvious by parison. Previous Studies of Interpretation in the West and in China History of Interpretation StudySince the end of last century, it has witnessed great progress which is marked by widening vision of reseachers, the improvement of scientific methods applied and also by a closer link with teaching. How to reinforce the interpretation study under interdisciplinary angles, how to guide its development in a more professional way are new challenges posed by the fastpaced development.Since the 1960s,great progress had been made by shifting the study of interpretation itself to the researches of human cognitive structures, from the professional interpretation training to quality assessment. All those changes indicate that it moves toward an interdisciplinary and scientific way. Before 1996,less than 50 essays on interpretation were published, most of which focused on specific interpretation experience. Few researchers did real interpretation study at that ,interpretation study develops very fast in recent years both at home and abroad, presenting some encouraging tendencies and achievements.Since 1989, began to edit The IRN Bulletin(國際口譯研究信息網(wǎng)公報),and
