(他們住在紐約。)【特殊用法】in the newspaper in bed in hospital in prison in the street in the sky in an armchair (sit) in a photograph in a picture in a mirror in the corner of a room in the back / front of a car arrive in a country or town圖解《新概念英語》語法之介詞介詞作為所有詞類中使用面較廣的詞類，在用法上較難歸類，因?yàn)榻樵~很多時(shí)候都是因?yàn)榧s定俗成，跟形容詞、副詞和動(dòng)詞等形成了諸多固定的搭配用法，很難找出規(guī)律性的內(nèi)容，所以對(duì)于學(xué)習(xí)者來說，介詞的學(xué)習(xí)和掌握更多的是要靠不斷地識(shí)記和積累。1 表時(shí)間 in表示較長(zhǎng)時(shí)間，如世紀(jì)、朝代、時(shí)代、年、季節(jié)、月及一般（非特指）的早、中、晚等。如：in the 20th century, in the 1950s, in 1989, in summer, in January, in the morning, in one’s life , in one’s thirties。 on表示具體某一天及其早、中、晚。如：on May 1st, on Monday, on New Year’s Day, on a cold night in January, on a fine morning, on Sunday afternoon等。 at表示某一時(shí)刻或較短暫的時(shí)間，或泛指圣誕節(jié)，復(fù)活節(jié)等。如：at 3:20, at this time of year, at the beginning of, at the end of …, at the age of …, at Christmas， at night, at noon, at this moment等。 在last, next, this, that, some, every 等詞之前一律不用介詞。如：They go to school every day from Monday to Friday.2 表地點(diǎn) 表方位的in, on, to。in表示“在…內(nèi)”，on表示“與…相鄰”，to表示“在…之外，又不相鄰”。 表在某地的at, in, on。at表示較小的地點(diǎn)，in表示較大的地方，on表示在一個(gè)平面上。3 表方式 by表用某種方法、手段或泛指某種交通工具。如：by bus。例外情況：on foot。 with表示某種工具、手段，一般接具體的工具和手段。如：She broke the table with a hammer. in表示用某種方式，用某種語言（語調(diào)、筆墨、顏色）等。如：She is in red today。4 表所屬關(guān)系 of表示“屬于…的”，表示數(shù)量或種類。如：Here is a cup of tea for you. from表示“是哪里人”以及時(shí)間或時(shí)間的起點(diǎn)來自。如：Where are you from? about表示關(guān)于等。如：I know nothing about him.5 其他用法 常見的固定短語：in a minute一會(huì)兒、立刻；in a short while一會(huì)兒、不久；in a hurry匆匆忙忙；in danger在危險(xiǎn)中；in full全部地、詳細(xì)地；in a word一句話；in all總共；in every case不管怎樣；in the end最后；in spite of盡管；in person親自；in fact事實(shí)上；in good health身體健康的；in front of在……前面；in some ways在某些方面；in mon共同的；in public當(dāng)眾
