【正文】 nicipality Urban Planning Bureau has signed up Italian architect Stefano Boeri, the father of the forest city movement, to build a selfcontained munity for up to 30, 000 people. He is the goto man for such projects thanks to the success of his vertical forests, two residential (住宅的) towers. Completed in 2014, they remove up to tons of soot (煤煙) from the air each year, and a year later one of them was named Best Tall Building Worldwide. The Liuzhou project is a much more ambitious undertaking, however. Its homes, hospitals, hotels, schools and offices will be built on a 340acre site in what Boeri calls the first attempt to create an urban environment that is really trying to find a balance with nature. Its 100 species of plant life are expected to absorb almost 10, 000 tons of carbon dioxide and 57 tons of pollutants per year, while at the same time producing 900 tons of lifegiving oxygen. Although the architects haven39。t published the cost of the forest city, the Milan towers cost only five percent more than traditional skyscrapers. The construction of his forest city at Liuzhou is set to begin in 2020, and there is still a great deal of planning and research required before a projected pletion date can be set. However, Boeri remains optimistic about the project and has confidence in the soundness of his vision: I really think that bringing forests into the city is a way to deal with global warming.(1)What39。s Liuzhou39。s attitude towards the sustainable development? But in Liuzhou, a city in southern China, attitudes could not be more different.“可知,大多數(shù)城市反對,而柳州的態(tài)度卻截然不同。故選A。 (2)考查推理判斷。根據(jù)第二段中的“He is the goto man for such projects thanks to the success of his‘vertical forests’, two residential (住宅的) towers.”可知,由于他的“垂直森林”——兩座住宅樓的成功,他是此類項目的關(guān)鍵人物。從而推斷出,他在類似的項目中積累了經(jīng)驗。故選D。 (3)考查代詞指代。根據(jù)第二段中的“He is the goto man for such projects thanks to the success of his ‘vertical forests’, two residential (住宅的) towers.”可知,they指代前句中的two residential (住宅的) towers。故選B。 (4)考查推理判斷。根據(jù)第三段中的“Its homes, hospitals, hotels, schools and offices will be built on a 340acre site in what Boeri calls the first attempt to create an urban environment that is really trying to find a balance with nature. Its 100 species of plant life are expected to absorb almost 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide and 57 tons of pollutants per year, while at the same time producing 900 tons of lifegiving oxygen.”和最后一段中的“However, Boeri remains optimistic about the project and has confidence in the soundness of his vision: ‘I really think that bringing forests into the city is a way to deal with global warming.’可知,柳州建造森林城市可以減少污染,從而推斷出,其項目的目的是改善環(huán)境。故選D。 【點評】本題考點涉及細(xì)節(jié)理解,代詞指代和推理判斷三個題型的考查,是一篇環(huán)保類閱讀,考生需要準(zhǔn)確捕捉細(xì)節(jié)信息,同時根據(jù)上下文的邏輯關(guān)系,進行分析,推理,從而選出正確答案。8.Choose the one that fits best according to the information given in the passage you have just read. After some blood tests, Dr Stubs stood before me, a tall man, but short on personality and sporting a cold expression. You have systemic lupus, he said matteroffactly. Lupus, he continued, is an autoimmune disease and …. I remember certain details but mostly I remember him talking about children. Children are no harm. But childbirth would jumpstart additional symptoms that could be life threatening. You already have two kids anyway. As I got up to leave, shaken and drained, he said his parting words, I would discourage any further research. There is no cure and nothing can prevent its progression. Still, I did research lupus and its symptoms tiredness and joint painwere both consistent with what I was experiencing. And eventually some major organs could be affected, causing shutdown and possibly death. I studied and found out that echinacea had a record in making immune system stronger. I decided that along with the plant I would strengthen my mindset by immersing myself in my family with my oneyearold son and threeyearold daughter. After another visit, I decided never to go back to Dr. Stubs. How could one endure repeatedly hear desperately words ing from an emotionless mouth even though they were truth? The years passed. When I would feel tired and achy I pulled support from my children and their laughter. Finally, after eight years, I went to Dr. Kirstein who was remended by a friend. She stood there holding my hand and looking into my eyes warmly. So let39。s talk a little Instantly my defenses were down. Before I knew it, she had me running on and on about my children, my husband, my life and dreams. I told her about all the meaningful activities I was involved in, those things I might have never done without the disease. After several followup tests, and greater research into my family history, Dr. Kirsteincame to conclusive answer. I did not have systemic lupus. There must be something wrong with the initial tests 8 years before. I didn39。t know whether I should jump for joy or scream because I had been living the last eight years in fear of a fatal disease. But then I realized that I had been living every day, not so much in fear, but happiness Even day was a gift and I knew it.(1)Dr. Strubs warned the author against having more children because ________. A.The process of giving birth
