【文章內(nèi)容簡介】 vernmentoriented. The enterpriseoriented mode is again divided into two subcategories: the stateowned enterprise investment in Dai village and the foreign enterprise investment of the Arcadia munity. The modes of management and operation of these categories are different from one another. The Yulong river tourist attraction, which is governmentoriented, is still in the preliminary stage of development, while Dai village and Arcadia, which are both enterprise oriented, have already bee welldeveloped, grade AAAA national tourist attractions. Among the three munities, Dai village is both a countryside tourism munity and a nationality tourism munity, and so this case study can provide guidance for nationality tourism. In order to understand the situation of tourism, which is a plicated social phenomenon, as well as the ideas and behavior of munity members in their economic activities, the basic approach adopted in the present study used the anthropological methods of participant observation and indepth interview. Since 2021, the authors have been to the three target munities eight times, for a total of more than four months, to engage in indepth field investigations. The investigators also chose twentyfive representative reporters out of the different munities being investigated (peasant participants in tourism, directors of enterprises, related government officials, and so on), taking into consideration various aspects such as gender, village, age, occupation, economic condition, educational level, and so on, and holding repeated, indepth interviews with them so as to gather materials that cannot be obtained through participation. Other methods such as questionnaires, documentation, general interviews, and discussion were also used to collect relatively macroscopic materials and data. Based on the investigation results and documentation of the munity tourism cases in China, the authors adopted the method of crosscultural parison, bining the studies and investigation of munity participation cases by Western scholars in a process of summarization, deduction, and analysis. Differences in Community Participation between China and the West Differences of Social Significance For many Western societies, tourism is but one path for the development of local munities. For example, when officials of NANA [the aboriginal association of the Inupiat in Alaska, originally the Northwest Arctic Native Association] found that tourism had a low rate of return on investment and much risk, they decided not to make a direct investment in the tourism industry. NANA is very successful in other fields within the business arena and owns a franchised food store, several hotels, construction panies, and the security agency that protects the petroleum pipeline in Alaska (V. Smith 2021). The aboriginal people who are engaged in tourism there are even regarded as “marginal.” This Western society clearly does not consider tourism as its sole means of development. In China, by contrast, tourism is usually the leading force for the development of local munities (especially in the western regions), and sometimes even the only effective option. Residents at the Yulong river tourist attraction in Yangshuo had been depending upon agriculture for a living for a long period of time. However, since the area of farmland per capita was far from adequate, there was a rather low degree of industrialization of agriculture, and the economic ine and living standards of the local people had remained stagnant. Since 2021, via the development of tourism, the local munity has found a path to wealth by operating family hotels, tourist restaurants, and bambooraft rides, all of which have bee their best approach to economic development. Differences in Points of Interest Although the Western world is also interested in the economic benefits of tourism, they are equally aware of its negative effects, such as loss of cultural tradition inflation of currency, rise of land prices, environmental destruction, and so o
