The best ratio of raw materials and production processes were explored by changing the content of binder , sintering temperature and holding time. The lightweight porous materials were used as biomedium in biological aerated filter and effect of water treatment was evaluated. The results show that : lightweight porous mineral materials can be successfully prepared by sintering temperature at 550℃ , holding 15 minutes , then at 1130℃ holding 30 minutes,which the ratio of icon tailings, palygorskite, toner, and calcium carbonate were 5: : : . The apparent density of lightweight porous materials was g/cm3,crushing force was , water absorption rate was %, and the dissolution rate by hydrochloric acid was %. The BAF reactor with the lightweight porous materials serving as the biomedium achieved high removal efficiencies for 85% of COD. The lightweight porous material has good wastewater treatment effect.
