First, the current chapter introduces the topic and outlines in very broad terms the objectives and contributions of the research. The second chapter proceeds to discuss the relevant theoretical literature published in the field. It does so by first introducing the concept of ?ports? and providing information on their developments and technological changes that took place worldwide over the years.
