The goddess is furious, pointing out that male gods are allowed to take mortal lovers while female ones are not. But she cannot defy Zeus, so reluctantly（嫌惡的） she agrees and informs the weeping（哭泣的） Odysseus of the new plans. Calypso tries to convince Odysseus that she is better than his mortal wife. They give him food to eat and clothes to wear and direct him to the city. Odysseus goes to the palace of King Alcinous（阿爾奇諾斯） and Queen Arete（阿勒特） , where he is received with great kindness and generosity. The king and the queen promise to help him to travel to Ithaca. After a couple of days of resting there, at a banquet of the Phaecian nobility, the blind bard Demodocus（得摩多科斯） sings a song about Odysseus and Achilles at Troy and then sing of an affair between Ares and Aphrodite（阿佛洛狄特） , which ended when the jealous husband Hephaestus（赫菲斯托斯） fed chains, snared them, and invited the other gods to witness the adulterers（奸夫） caught in the act. Odysseus talked with other shadows, including Achilles（阿基里斯） who ruled that part of the Underworld, and the hero, Ajax the Greater, who was still angry and refused to talk to him. He saw Tantalus（坦塔羅斯） , tortured by food and drink always just out of reach, and Sisyphus（科林斯王） , perpetually pushing a boulder up a hill. After the sight of so many dead became unbearable to Odysseus, he fled to his ship and he and his men sailed out of the Underworld. The Trojan War: The Odyssey ? Here beautiful nymphs（寧芙） with the body of halfbird and halfwoman attracted seamen with their dazzling songs and lured them onto the reefs surrounding their island, where the ships were wrecked（失事的船） . Odysseus wisely plugged his men’s ears with wax so they could not hear the enchanting songs. However, he had himself tied up to the mast so he could listen to the dongs. When the voices became audible he unsuccessfully tried to free himself, but the ship sailed past the island unharmed. ? Odysseus and the Sirens ?奧德修斯和賽壬 The Trojan War Saga: The Odyssey ? Across the narrow straight was Charybdis（卡律布狄斯） , a fierce whirlpool（漩渦） . To pass between both unharmed was impossible. Soon the gods sent portents that the flayed hide crawled along the ground, and the roasted meat began to bellow, but these men still feasted f
