【正文】 Unit 16 Friendship Text Explanation About the Author Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 –1882) was an American essayist, philosopher, and poet, best remembered for leading the Transcendentalist movement of the mid19th century. In the essay we can find that the author’s discussion on friendship is not confined to the relationship between friends, but rather extended to the emotions of benevolence and placency which are felt towards others.
