A savage place! as holy and enchanted 野蠻的地方，既神圣而又著了魔 As e’er beneath a waning moon was haunted 好像有女人在衰落的月色里出沒， By woman wailing for her demonlover! 為她的魔鬼情郎而凄聲嚎哭! And from this chasm, with ceaseless turmoil seething, 巨壑下，不絕的喧囂在沸騰洶涌， As if this earth in fast thick pants were breathing, 似乎這土地正喘息在快速而猛烈的悸動中， A mighty fountain momently was forced: 從這巨壑里，不斷迸出股猛烈的地泉?！ mid whose swift half intermitted burst 在它那斷時續(xù)的涌迸之間， Huge fragments vaulted like rebounding hail, 巨大的石塊飛躍著象反跳的冰雹， Or chaffy grain beneath the thresher’s flail: 或者象打稻人連枷下一撮撮新稻。 And’mid these dancing rocks at once and ever 從這些舞蹈的巖石中， It flung up momently the sacred river. 時時刻刻 迸發(fā)出那條神圣的溪河?！ ive miles meandering with a mazy motion 迷亂地移動著，蜿蜒了五英里地方， Through wood and dale the sacred river ran, 那神圣的溪河流過了峽谷和森林， Then reached the caverns measureless to man, 于是到達了深不可測的洞門， And sank in tumult to a lifeless ocean: 在喧囂中沉入了沒有生命的海洋?！ nd ‘mid this tumu
